Jazz On The River – June 2nd 2019
A Recipe to End Hunger” is proud to present its first Jazz on the River featuring the smooth, brassy, versatile vocals of songstress Carly Johnson June 2nd at the Historic Farnsley-Moremen Landing. Johnson received her bachelor’s degree in music from the University of the Arts in Philadelphia in 2007. She returned home to Louisville and started performing as a jazz vocal/guitar duo with critically acclaimed guitarist Crag Wagner. They duo received the Louisville Music Award for Jazz Artist of the Year in 2014. Johnson shared her vocal talent with the Rock Scene in 2010 recording with My Morning Jacket on the track “Holding on to Black Metal” from their 2011 Grammy Nominated album “Circuital.” She has also performed with noted musicians Ben Sollee, Will Oldham, Rachel Grimes, Tyrone Cotton and Norah Jones.
The site of the concert is a jewel in Southwest Louisville. Farnsley-Moremen Landing is a historic 300-acre farm and house on a site that offers a breathtaking view of the Ohio River framed by rolling hills on the opposite bank. The entire 300-acre tract–including both historic houses–was designated as a Jefferson County Historic Landmark District in 1998.
